3.23. Cannot read shop configuration data error?

When using EstiMate on a network I get a shop configuration error and cannot open EstiMate on more than one machine at a time. What is going on and how do I get this corrected?

The key to smooth networking is consistent paths in the correct format. This error is usually caused by conflicting or
inconsistent paths to the data. In file > network setup all machines running estimate should have a network path in the format of:

\\computername\path-to-data

or if using mapped drives it should be a letter name followed by a colon and a backslash as shown below:

Z:\

None of the machines should have a local path like

C:\Program Files\EstiMate\Data

as this is what is causing the problem when one machine has the local path in the network setup and other machines have the network path.

It has always frustrated me knowing that the computer would be far better at doing all this repetitive work if only it were properly programmed to do so. Thank goodness Mark came to the rescue with EstiMate. Prices of material are entered once and only updated when prices change. All of our overhead costs are entered only once, and are easily changed at yearend if needed. All I have to do is select the materials, tell it the size, etc., and it gives me the answer. Even better, it makes it so easy to do the "what if's". You know, the "well, what if it's only one colour?" "What if it's corrugated plastic instead of PVC?" "What if it's 18x24 instead of 24x36?" "What if I get two of them?" On and on and on. Ya gotta love it!
