3.142. What is the Borland Database Engine (BDE)?

I see messages sometimes about the Borland Database Engine (BDE). What is it and do I need it to run EstiMate?

The BDE is the database engine through which EstiMate communicates with its data files. It installs automatically with EstiMate and can occasionally become corrupted by other programs installed on the system which also use the BDE to communicate with their data (it is a shared engine).

If you experience problems, you can go directly to the inprise website and download the latest update of the BDE. Here is the link:

The latest version of the BDE is also included on your EstiMate CD (version 1.5 or better).
