Home → EstiMate Version 1 → General FAQ → How does the seed value influence the quote?
A: The seed value is a starting point for how EstiMate calculates production
time. On the minimum production time seed value description it says '...this
value is the amount of time your shop requires to cut weed and apply the
vinyl (or do the lettering) on a BASIC 4x8 sign.' So, when the value is set
at 1.5 hours, for example, EstiMate will make the following calculation:
48 X 96 (dimension of the sign in inches) = 4608 (the number of square
inches in the sign).
90minutes (1.5 hours) / 4608 = .0195 (the amount of time to put vinyl on 1
square inch of the sign).
Hence, via this calculation EstiMate is able to arrive at a starting point
or 'seed value' for its production time calculations.
