Home → EstiMate Version 1 → How Do I... → Can I export data to other programs?
Functionality for exporting depends on the accounting software being used. The most optimal situation is use of QuickBooks 2002 or Premier. Using this accounting software in conjunction with EstiMate 1.91 or later will negate the need for import/export situations as the two programs will "talk" directly back and forth.
QB 2001 and previous will import/export well. You can easily import your customer list from QB and when you export your finished jobs from EstiMate to QB if there are new customers EstiMate will automatically update QB accordingly.
Should you be using accounting software other than QB import/export is still possible, however an intermediary step is involved.
A sample scenario may go as follows:
1. Export finished jobs using the Export Transactions To Quickbooks function.
2. Open the resulting file in a spreadsheet program and organize the data in a manner in which your
accounting software needs to see it, according to the documentation for the accounting software.
(You may wish to create a macro to automate the process)
3. Save the file.
3. Import the file into your accounting software.
In this manner one can import records and keep customer lists up-to-date even if you are not using QuickBooks as your accounting software. Beyond this however, it would be a double-entry situation.
In terms of direct import/export with other accounting software like MYOB,Peachtree, and others, this is currently being considered for a future version of EstiMate.
