HomeEstiMate Version 1How Do I...How do I account for substrate waste?

4.19. How do I account for substrate waste?

I am doing a sign for a customer that is on a substrate I buy in 4X8 sheets. The sign however is less than 4X8 so there is waste that cannot be used for anything else. How do
I cover my costs for the wasted material?

The solution is to place in the height and width fields the dimensions of the entire substrate that you purchase from the manufacturer. Then alter the line item description to read the dimensions the customer specifies.

In this way you have covered your waste on the job.

Another example would be in screen printed signs. If you are screen printing a quantity of 3X3 labels on 4X4 stock due to bleed thru, then you would place in the dimensions of the stock and change the line item description to reflect the 3X3 dimension.

Following this procedure will cover you for any substrate waste that may occur.
