5.3. Bulletin: How do I update my software?

How do I update my copy of EstiMate so I have the latest version?

NOTE: BEFORE UPGRADING BACK UP YOUR DATA AS A PRECAUTION.

Upgrade Instructions:
1. Close EstiMate. Downoad the latest update from the pricingmadeeasy.com website. http://www.pricingmadeeasy.com/estimate/download/index.php and be sure to choose an easy-to-find location for the file like your computer desktop or the My Documents folder.
2. Double-Click on the file you downloaded. An upgrade wizard will appear.
3. Go thru the screens in the update wizard and install the upgrade.
4. Re-open EstiMate and proceed as normal.

Q and A
Q: I got an error message after downloading and double-clicking on the file that says "corrupt file" what do I do now.
A: It is likely the upgrade file got corrupted during the download process. Delete the file and download it again.
Q: Is my software automatically upgraded after downloading?
A: No. You must double-click on the file you downloaded and complete the upgrade process.
Q: Can I have EstiMate open while I am downloading the upgrade?
A: Yes, you can, HOWEVER when the download process is done you MUST close EstiMate before double-clicking on the file and beginning the upgrade wizard.
Q: I cant find my update file after downloading now what do I do now?
A: Search for the file on the computer using your computers automated search utility. Depending on the version of Windows you are running you may click Start > Search > Files and Folders -OR- Start > Find > Files or Folders. Search your entire computer (not just my documents or other sub folder) for "eUpdate" without the quotes. The upgrade will change names with each new release, but they will usually start with "eUpdate" and you should be able to easily find the file by searching on this string.
Q: If I don't like the upgrade am I stuck?
A: No, you can always downgrade. Simply insert your EstiMate program CD in the drive and re-install the software. EstiMate will revert back to whatever version is on the CD.
Q: How often should I upgrade?
A: As often as possible! It is always recommended that you have the latest version of the software to have all the latest enhancements and fixes and to improve software performance.
Q: I don't have internet access or my access is too slow can I get a copy on CD?
A: Yes. Contact EstiMate support to request a CD.
