The solution involves creating a composite substrate of the foam and lamanants and entering those in the substrate database. The composite substrate can then be selected whether you are using the vinyl signs plugin or Wide Format Inkjet. Detailed instructions follow below:
1. In the wide format inkjet plugin input 1 for the quantity and 12 in the height and width dimensions. Do not select print media or ink.
2. Click the Lamanating and mounting tab. Select the formica from the top and bottom lamanant dropdowns.
3. Select the sign foam from the mounting dropdown. Press the calculate total button.
4. Double-click on the subtotal field. The hard numbers will appear. Add up the figures in the expense column and make a note of the total expenses. Click the green OK checkmark on the hard numbers report.
5. Click the book icon to the right of the mounting dropdown. Press the New button. Enter a description like ?Lamanated sign foam formica both sides? or other description that you find suitable.
6. Place the number 12 in the height and width fields and be sure the foot indicators are dotted.
7. Enter the figure you obtained in step 4. in the cost field. Enter your desired markup and press the OK checkmark twice.
8. Press cancel on the Wide Format screen. You have just priced and created a composite substrate and entered it into the mounting database for future retrieval. Repeat as necessary.
Tip: If you have many lamanants and mounting materials you may consider averaging agragates of these materials and put in the average in the cost field thus eliminating the need to price and create composite substrates for every combination of lamanant and mounting board you use.
Procedure for pricing composite signage when applying vinyl lettering to the sign:
1. Click New Estimate > Add item > Vinyl Signs. Select the composite substrate you created from the dropdown. Enter the quantity of signs you are doing. Enter 2 for the number of sides (if you are placing vinyl on both sides of the sign) and enter the height and width of the sign.
2. Select the vinyl or vinyls you wish to use on the sign and set the appropriate coverage(s). Adjust subjectives as needed, double-click the calculate total button and click the green OK checkmark.
You have just successfully priced vinyl lettering on a composite material.
Procedure for pricing composite signage when applying a digital print:
1. Click New Estimate > Add item > Wide Format.
2. On the job specifications tab enter the quantity, height and width of the sign you are making.
3. Select the print media you will be printing on e.g. clear ink receptive vinyl.
4. Select the ink and trim difficulty.
5. Click on the lamanation and mounting tab. Select one of the composites you created above. There is no need to select lamanation now since, it has been incorporated into the mounting material.
6. Adjust subjectives (if needed) and double-click the calculate total button.
You have now successfully priced a digital print applied to a composite material.
In summary, three processes have been outlined. Creating composite substrates that include lamanants and mounting material and shown how to price the signage using vinyl lettering or wide-format digital printing.
