4.154. How do I price Wide Format output using Linear-Square Items?

Are there other ways to price Wide Format inkjet prints in EstiMate?

The best way is to use the Wide Format Inkjet Plugin available with versions 1.94 and above.

However, an alternate method using the linear/square items plugin is listed below.

Wide Format Printing
We will price a 36' Inkjet print using a 4-color process on glossy paper that is 48' inches in length.

1. Click 'Quick Quote' and select 'Linear/Square Items.'
2. Click on the book icon to the right of the 'Select an item' dropdown box to add the new print to the Linear/Square Items database.
3. Enter the item description. In this case enter: 36' Inkjet Print, 4-color process on glossy paper.
4. Choose a supplier for the item from the list. If the supplier is not listed, click the button with the book on it to add a new supplier. If this is an item you produce in-house, create a supplier record for yourself, or leave this item blank.
5. Select the method by which you sell this item. The first list contains 'square' and 'linear,' and the second list contains 'feet,' 'inches,' 'mm,' and 'meters'. Select 'linear' from the first list and 'inches' from the second list.
6. Enter the cost per unit this item costs you to purchase or produce. A key principle to remember here is that we are entering the cost for one 'unit' (defined by the two lists in step #5) of the finished product, not just a component such as paper or ink. For our example, we will put in $2.00 for the cost for one 'unit' that is 1'x36' in size.
7. Enter either the markup (%) you wish to charge on this item or the price at which you wish to sell each unit. When you enter one of these the other is figured automatically. For now, enter 100%, to achieve a selling price of $4.00.
8. Click the green check mark (OK button) to save the changes.
9. Back on the linear/square items screen, select from the list the entry we just created: 36' Inkjet Print 4-color process on glossy paper.
10. Put in the number 48 into the linear inch box for the length of the print we are pricing.
11. Press the tab key to move over to the quantity box and to enter your desired quantity. In this case simply leave the quantity set to 1.
12. Click the 'Calculate Total' button and then click the green check mark to save this print & add it to the estimate.
