2.6. Discounting too deeply?

EstiMate seems to be discounting signage too much. On 20 signs for example the price is 1/2 of what it would cost for one!

The issue is really with design time. When estimating one sign all the design time is applied to that sign. However when you get into quantities of signs, the design time is spread out over each sign. Hence, it appears that the quantity price is too low, when actually this amortization of design time is at work.

Please double click on the subtotal box, and review the hard numbers. You will find that the per sign price is not arbitrarily low. Examination of the quantity discounts field will also demonstrate that a large discount is not being given in most cases.

In addition, more detailed info is available in your help files. Click Help > Search for topic > type the word "discount" without the quotes, and press the display button. Highlight the entry called "quantity discounts demystified" and press display.

This will give a pictorial diagramme of how EstiMate is working and present alternatives.
